The Sydney Seals Freediving Club ran a CMAS competition on 5 & 6 Sept at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.  The competition included, on Day 1, a speed apnea event 2x50 m.  The videos of the competition can be seen on the Sydney Seals Club's stream page.

In Finswimming, there is the 1x50m speed apnea event. In freediving, the series continues with 2x50m, 4x50m and 8x50m.  You are allowed to breathe at the end of each 50m. As your score is the total time, you don't want to rest for too long before doing the next 50m!

Below are the results of the competition. A lot of people were trying the 2x50m for the first time. This explains why so many athletes surfaced before the end of their second 50m and got DQ.
